By applying the Community of Inquiry framework (Garrison et al.) to online learning environments, what can be done in these categories, or done better, to create a more balanced and robust educational experience?

Answer 1:

Social Presence: the ability to project one’s self and establish personal and purposeful relationships. The three main aspects of social presence are effective communication, open communication and group cohesion.” This will be completely different for the online class, compared to the face-to-face class.

Dr. Bror Saxberg, Chief Learning Officer of Kaplan Inc., discusses five "Myths About the Mind" in his article here. Dr. Saxberg is a cognitive scientist with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from M.I.T. and an M.D. from Harvard Medical School. At Kaplan Inc., Dr. Saxberg explores the workings of the mind to inform and improve learning environments including online and offline curriculum materials.

Below are the five common misconceptions about how minds work:
